THE PARISH CHURCH OF OUR LADY ST. MARY

A church is thought to have existed on the site in Norman times. The present church dates from the 14th century with additions made from that time. A chapel within the church is the Sydenham Chapel and this is seperated from the rest of the church by wrought iron screening. Considerable restoration work was carried out in the 19th century and the church was reopened for worship in May 1875. Six bells date from 1624 and the church clock is dated as 1792.
