Value £6; when the Bishop aquired it, 40s. Also of this land 3 virgates of land lay in Nettlecombe, a manor of the King’s, before 1066. Value 15s; when the Bishop aquired them, as much.

The name Exton: is said to mean village of the Exe river.

THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST. PETER
Thought to date from Norman times , the date of origin of the church building is not known. The building is referred to as the rudest church in the district. Its rough stone tower houses a peal of 6 bells and a box pew is reserved for ringers. Restoration work in 1976 revealed old tiles and relics.
