THE PARISH CHURCH OF THE HOLY GHOST

The church is thought to date from the 14th Century. Over the years the church has been variously known as- Holy Ghost-Holy Trinity and Holy Cross, but since 1910 it has been known as the “Church of the Holy Ghost”. The tower is thought to be the oldest part of the building and it lost its spire during a storm in 1725. In the tower are six bells which date from 1400 and they have an unusual order of ringing rotation. The tower also contains a faceless clock. Perhaps the church is best known for its bench end carvings which date from 1534.
